Jeremy is the only life-long Republican in this race and an active member of the Dare County GOP. He has been a student of political philosophy and economics public policy through both autodidact and formal education (United States Military Academy at West Point, Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC & Regent University in Virginia Beach) and intends to continue in the practice to maintain a lifetime of learning. Jeremy attended kindergarten in Goldsboro, NC and was later stationed at Fort Bragg, NC where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He lived in Holden Beach in Brunswick County and now makes his home in the Outer Banks in Dare County where he has lived for the past 6 years. As an Air Force brat he also lived in California, Illinois, Montana, Alaska and North Dakota. The Army took him to Georgia, New Jersey, New York and back to North Carolina. Members of his family have fought in every American conflict since the French & Indian War during which one of his ancestors, Colonel John Smith, commanded a fort in Virginia. Another of his ancestors, Tidence Lane, was the first Christian preacher in what was to become the state of Tennessee -- Lane and seven of his sons fought in the American Revolution. Members of his family fought on both sides of the Civil War. Relatives include President John Adams, Samuel Adams and President William McKinley. Jeremy is an Army Veteran with 16 years of service between the US Army and the Army National Guard. Currently serves in the NCARNG. Most recently returned from a deployment to the Doura Province, Baghdad, Iraq where he went with the 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team to participate in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009-2010. After Iraq, Jeremy decided to go back to school and is finishing up the Film and Television program at Regent University, Virginia Beach where he has been for the past two years. He intends to produce documentaries on banking and economics and eventually move to feature films about soldiers, from modern warriors to ancient ones. Jeremy is a fellow in an Austrian Economics Fellowship designed to promote economic education for public policy makers. His favorite economic authors include Ludwig von Mises, Henry Hazlitt, Murray Rothbard and Friedrich A. Hayek. His interest in politics is only to secure individual and economic liberty for North Carolina and America. Once this generation has achieved such liberty, he intends to leave politics behind and pursue his true passion: storytelling through film and eventually opening up a dinner theatre in the Outer Banks. Jeremy is a Christian and follows the admonition of Christ to love one another and believes that all ills in the world can be solved with the golden rule. He has volunteered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Special Olympics and coached soccer for five year olds. Jeremy is a licensed North Carolina Real Estate Broker, an Eagle Scout and has an 11 year old son, Noah.
